SAULT STE. MARIE SPOON Indians fishing

The is a wonderful 5 ½” spoon done by Shepard MFG. Co. of Melrose Highlands MA who worked from 1893 to 1923. Sault Ste. Marie, Rapids of St Mary in French, is a city in the northeastern end of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, fondly called “the UP”. The Rapids run from Lake Superior to Lake Huron. The Indian’s fishing in the rapids would have been a common sight one hundred plus years ago. Note the detail of the bridge and house on the foreground. Estate condition is excellent with no monograms.
