This sterling book press was produced by The Merrill Shops of New York, NY from 1893 to 1931. The company was known for producing small quality items in silver. The piece measures 5 1/2 mm wide by 3 1/2 mm wide by 4 mm tall. The press is in working order and retains the original leather insert in between the press and base. The base has a very slight warp from the pressure of the press over more than one hundred years. The press measures 47.9 grams including the leather insert. There is a monogram on each side that appears to read "E and F". The sterling mark is pictured and represents the Merrill Shops. This is a wonderful gift for book as well as working model fans.
