Mt. Tom Amusement Park of Holyoke Massachusetts sterling souvenir spoon by Towle dates to the early 1900’s. The Amusement Park started in 1894 as a dance hall and open air restaurant. A unique cable railway was created to take visitors to the new building at the summit. President McKinley spoke from that summit building when visiting the area. The Summit House burned down in 1900 and was rebuilt. In 1929 the midway was expanded and a new roller coaster and many more rides were added. By the 1960’s this was more of the most popular entertainment spots in the Pioneer Valley. However, by 2008 the entire property had been graded and cleared. As a boy in the 1950, I rode the train and many of the other rides. This is an amusement park that is gone but not forgotten. The spoon is in excellent estate condition and measures 5 3/8” long. The train runs down the handle and many of the buildings are shown in the bowl. References from Wikipedia. Thanks from White Water Antiques
